We’re working on further upgrades to the heating and ventilation. In the meantime, please open windows from time to time to allow air to circulate, and crack the kitchen window open whenever you’re cooking. We’re doing our best to maintain a building that is over 250 years old.
Heating
Heating is electric and all heaters in the apartment are centrally controlled by a Qivivo thermostat, the control panel for which is located above the light switches in the kitchen.
Please do not adjust the individual radiator control boxes.
To change the temperature at any time, tap the middle of the thermostat to wake it up.
Press the illuminated up or down arrow until the desired temperature is shown. (It may then take a few minutes for the instruction to be relayed to the radiators, which will turn on or off automatically until the apartment reaches the desired temperature.)
By default, the system has been pre-programmed with day and night-time temperatures. You can override these by adjusting the temperature up our down on the controller. Long-stay guests should contact us if they’d like to have the thermostat reprogrammed for different times / temperatures (this is managed remotely). Heating is typically disabled during the summer months.
Towel heater
The towel heater in the bathroom is pre-programmed and will heat in the mornings and evenings. If you’d like to turn it on manually, simply press the dial in the middle, and turn it until the desired duration is shown (00:15, 00:30 mins etc). It starts heating immediately.
Induction cooktop
Induction-compatible metal pots and pans must be used when cooking (such as those provided with the apartment).
The magnetic “Twist-Pad” allows you to select the hotplate and adjust heat settings. (It can be removed to facilitate cleaning.)
The twist knob is magnetic and is placed on top of the twistpad. Position the twist knob on the twist pad so that it is in the centre of the indicators which delimit the twist pad area.
To activate a hotplate, touch the twist knob at the level for the required hotplate.
Turning the twist knob then selects the heat setting.
Laundry
The machine in the kitchen washes (but does not dry) clothes. A drying rack is provided in the bedroom closet on the far left, along with an iron and ironing board. Kindly ensure that wet clothes are not left to drip onto the wood floors.

Sofa bed
The sofa bed comfortably sleeps two, and can be unfolded by reaching behind for the strap, and then pulling it forward slowly. See here for a video. Sheets and pillows for the sofa bed are usually stored in the bedroom/hallway closet, ready for your use.
