Essentials.

Getting here and away

From CDG: it typically take 45 mins to 1 hour by car or public transport. Official taxis have a fixed fare of 56 Euros (cards accepted; modest cash tip welcome but not expected). Uber and LeCab also operate in Paris. To arrive by rail, follow signs to the RER and take any Paris-bound RER B train. Get off at Gare du Nord and transfer to the #5 metro line, where you’ll ride two stops to Jacques Bonsergent.

Metro: République metro station is on our doorstep and provides quick and easy access to most of Paris. Jacques Bonsergent and Strasbourg-Saint-Denis stations are also within easy walking distance. (Several bus lines can also be found on the Place, including the #75 which is handy for quick access to the Marais, Ile Saint-Louis, and Latin Quarter.)

Uber / LeCab: if ordering private cars, keep in mind that our home is on a pedestrianised street with a one-way traffic system designed to keep things calm. While cars may drive to the front door, you’ll often save time meeting drivers at a nearby address – e.g. the Renaissance Hotel, or the Carrefour City grocery store across the street.

Access codes and keys

Access instructions, keys / fobs and codes will be provided on or in advance of your arrival.

We’re currently testing key-free access and hope to have this up and running for your next stay. In the meantime, your key works normally in the lock. To lock/unlock the door from inside, simply turn the dial all the way to the left/right.

Visitors may call the apartment from the video intercom by pressing the [down] arrow to select HASTINGS, then pressing the green button to call.

For security reasons, please close the building entrance doors behind you. The apartment windows should also be closed when absent.

Parking

On-street parking is available on the neighbouring streets, and is paid for using the green parking meters or an app (details of which are displayed on the meter).

For the comfort and safety of residents, parking in the building courtyard is strictly forbidden.

Waste and recycling

Communal waste containers are located in the courtyard, in the small shed to the right. These are emptied daily by the building.

Yellow lid = recycling (paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, plastic bags, foil…).

Green lid = all other household waste, which should be in a sealed bag.

White lid = glass. (There is also a glass recycling point in front of the Marché Saint-Martin, opposite the fire station).

Emergency

For emergency services dial 112 (fire / police / medical emergency; service in both French and English).

The apartment is fitted with smoke detectors. In the event of accidental activation, press and hold the face of the smoke detector to mute the alarm, and open windows to ventilate the space.

A basic first aid kit can be found in the bathroom cabinet (behind the mirror).
